          A manic episode is more than just feeling energetic or confident. It may include:

      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Inflated self-esteem or grandiosity

      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Decreased need for sleep
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Racing thoughts and rapid speech

           Risky or impulsive behavior (spending sprees, unsafe sex, etc.)

           Increased goal-directed activity (often without follow-through)

          Types of Bipolar Disorder
         &#xD;

           Bipolar I Disorder

           : At least one manic episode, often followed by depressive episodes. Mania may be severe enough to require hospitalization.

           Bipolar II Disorder
          &#xD;

          What Causes Bipolar Disorder?
